Agricultural land plus waterfront means rodents and birds in equal measure. Ruskin arrays get rats from the fields and gulls and pigeons from the bay, and both nest in the same gap under your panels.
Vegetable field dust
Ruskin's agricultural belt is active most of the year. Field dust is mineral-heavy and settles in a tan layer that cuts output noticeably within weeks.
Bay salt
Western Ruskin and the Little Harbor area are fully coastal, with the same salt-film problem as Apollo Beach.
Combined dust-and-salt crust
The worst case in the county: salt aerosol binds field dust into a crust that is far more stubborn than either would be alone, and needs dwell time rather than force.
A split between older rural and waterfront cottages with metal and shingle roofs, and new-build shingle in Hawks Point and College Chase. Waterfront properties around Little Harbor and Bahia Beach add tile into the mix.
Rigid galvanized steel mesh with a black powder-coat finish, sized to the exact perimeter of your array so it reads as part of the system rather than a bolt-on cage. The mesh is secured with stainless steel clips that grip the panel frame directly. Nothing is drilled into your roof and no penetrations are created that could later leak.
Guarding an occupied array just traps the problem inside. Every install starts with removing nests, droppings and debris from under the modules, sanitising the deck area, and checking for chewed conductors or damaged conduit while we have the access.
