Direct Gulf salt spray
Homes on the Gulf side of the island, especially around Bean Point and along Gulf Drive, take a near-daily salt mist that forms a hard film within weeks of a clean if left alone.
Bay-side salt and marine growth
Sarasota Bay-facing homes near the north end see slightly less direct spray but more biological growth thanks to calmer water and higher humidity along the shoreline.
Salt-air metal roof staining
The island's many metal roofs show streaking around fasteners and panel seams faster than shingle does, and that staining can bleed onto lower-mounted arrays if not addressed.
Mostly older Old Florida-style elevated homes on stilts with metal roofs in Anna Maria and Bean Point, alongside a denser mix of shingle and low-slope roofs on Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach rentals and cottages. Elevated stilt homes change our approach — poles often need to reach both up and around a wraparound deck rather than straight off the ground.
We inspect the inverter and any optimisers or microinverters for fault codes, error history and abnormal operating temperature, open and inspect the combiner box, and check DC and AC disconnects. Connectors are checked for corrosion and correct seating, and grounding and bonding are verified end to end.
Rail alignment, mid- and end-clamp torque, standoff and flashing condition, conduit supports and roof penetration sealant. Florida wind loading finds anything that was under-torqued at installation, and finding it during an inspection is dramatically cheaper than finding it after a storm.
Anna Maria Island sits outside Hillsborough County, so a $50–$100 travel fee applies depending on routing. Booking alongside a neighbour usually removes it.
